Match Details

Southern Whitetails v Pleasant Point Mud Dogs

Venue: Hinds Domain

Date: Friday, June 27

Kickoff: 7:00 PM

The 2025 Mid Canterbury Combined Senior Women’s Competition will reach its thrilling conclusion this Friday, as the Southern Whitetails host Pleasant Point in a much-anticipated final at Southern RFC – home of the Whitetails.

Pleasant Point have been the in-form team of the season, suffering just one defeat across the campaign. That loss, however, came at the hands of the Whitetails, where Southern edged them out 21–19 in a thrilling contest. This Friday Pleasant Point will travel North with one goal in mind: to reverse that result and take home the silverware.

The Southern Whitetails, buoyed by home-ground advantage and a passionate local following, will be looking to repeat their winning formula. Known for their physicality and discipline, they’ll aim to control the tempo and keep Pleasant Point’s dangerous threats in check.

Fridays final promises to be a showcase of the very best in women’s rugby, with both teams bringing contrasting styles and plenty of firepower to the field. With the local community expected to turn out in force to support their side, and a travelling army from Pleasant Point, this match is sure to be a contest appropriate of a Final.

Over recent years, women’s rugby has seen a surge in participation, visibility, and community support. Clubs, schools, and volunteers have played a vital role in creating opportunities for women and girls to thrive in the sport. This final is a reflection of that collective effort—a moment to acknowledge how far the game has come and the positive impact it continues to have on local communities.

Mid Canterbury Rugby invites all supporters to come along and be part of what promises to be a memorable occasion for women’s rugby in the region. We kindly ask all attendees to show respect for the players, match officials, and the Southern Rugby Club. Let’s work together to ensure a positive and welcoming environment for everyone involved.

We wish both teams the very best as they take the field. This is a special opportunity to represent your region with pride—embrace the moment, and remember: pressure is a privilege
