Mid Canterbury teenage rep sides both in winning form over the weekend


The Under 16's played their second game of the South Island tournamnent travelling down to Oamaru as they faced off against North Otago. The Under 18 team finished up their campaign with a trip to Sheffield to play against West Coast. The Under 16's were looking to bounce back after their first round loss to Canterbury Metro Red. The Under 18's were looking to close out their campaign with a win against West Coast. 

The Under 16's were looking to get back in winning form after suffering a loss last weekend to Canterbury Metro Red. They made a trip down to Oamaru to hopefully get their first tournament victory. North Otago were on top for the first half as they went into the break with a 15-10 lead over Mid Canterbury. The second half was a completely different story, with the Mid Canterbury side putting on a much more dominant display, the final score was 46-22 to Mid Canterbury. The Under 16's try scorers were hooker logan Williams with a hat trick, number eight Nuku Penisoni, midfielder David Pio,winger Tom McKenzie, reserve back Makaia Allen and halfback Eddie Galbraith. 

The Under 18's travelled to Sheffield to close out their campaign against West Coast. Mid Canterbury were looking to finish off with a win. It was a tough battle for both sides in a game that was a very low scoring affair. Mid Canterbury were able to edge out West Coast 15 - 12 in a very close game. It was an awesome way for the Under 18’s to finish out their campaign with a strong performance and a win. 

Next weekend the Under 16’s head down to Waimate to take on South Canterbury in a curtain raiser game for the South Canterbury Heartland game.
